Uploaded on September 17, 2025

Ensure the authenticity and quality of seed potatoes with FoodTraze’s blockchain-based traceability solution. By leveraging blockchain technology, we help farmers, distributors, and buyers ensure transparency, accountability, and trust throughout the seed potato supply chain.

Abstract

This solution overview presents FoodTraze’s blockchain-powered traceability system for seed potatoes. It highlights the importance of ensuring quality planting material, preventing disease spread, and building trust among farmers, traders, and regulators by making every stage of the supply chain transparent and verifiable.

Introduction

Seed potatoes are the foundation of healthy potato production. However, issues such as mixing of uncertified seeds, disease contamination, and lack of origin visibility often reduce farmers’ yields and affect overall quality. FoodTraze addresses these challenges by implementing blockchain-based traceability that records and secures every step of the journey—from certified seed producers to farmers’ fields. This system not only safeguards quality and compliance but also helps farmers access trustworthy planting materials.

Implementation

Critical Tracking Events (CTEs):

Cultivation & Certification: Data on certified seed farms, planting cycles, pest and disease control measures, and official certifications are recorded.

Harvest & Grading: Harvested seed potatoes are sorted, graded, and tested, with results documented for quality assurance.

Storage & Packaging: Information on cold storage conditions, batch labeling, and packaging dates is captured for proper handling.

Distribution: Transportation details including temperature, humidity, and routes are monitored to ensure seed viability upon delivery.

Key Data Elements (KDEs):

Seed Source & Certification: Farm details, grower certification records, and disease-free guarantees.

Quality Testing Results: Data on disease resistance, germination rates, and tuber quality parameters.

Batch Tracking: Production lots, storage batches, and packaging identifiers.

Logistics Records: Shipment tracking, storage conditions, and delivery confirmations.

Consumer/Farmer Access:

By scanning a QR code on packaging, farmers and buyers can instantly verify the origin, certification, and quality checks of the seed potatoes. This builds trust and ensures they are planting reliable, disease-free materials.

Conclusion

With FoodTraze, seed potato supply chains become transparent, reliable, and efficient. Certified producers can demonstrate compliance, distributors can ensure safe handling, and farmers can plant with confidence knowing the seed quality is verified. Blockchain-powered traceability ensures that every seed potato planted is trustworthy, safe, and traceable.
